Anonymous asked: Hey B, I want to go vegan again because I know it's the right thing to do. However, last time I was vegan (for 6 months) I felt so restricted and it brought back some disordered eating tendencies, as well as bad BO and weight gain. At the moment I don't wear animal skins/fur, don't use animal tested products (except toothpaste) and am eating a plant based diet during the week with the weekends eating animal products if I feel like it. I just feel like I'm half assing it? Idk. Any tips?

Hello beautiful anon!

First of all YES!!! on going vegan. It is definitely the BEST thing to do not only for yourself but for the earth and animals.

When I first went vegetarian, I did the same thing. I went through the same things. This is all a part of your body detoxing. I broke out, I gained and lost, I almost wanted to eat animal products even more bc I was “restricting myself” from them. You have to make the connection love. The food that we eat nurtures our body and literally becomes our body. I didn’t want to be the remains of a once beautiful, innocent soul. I want to be the beauty in a fresh strawberry, the juiciness of a mango, the sweetness of a banana, and the strength in kale. ^_*  KALE YEAH!

Everyone is different. Every journey is different. I didn’t give myself a “time limit” I knew that I was going to be veg for life. It’s a process. Of course things like researching, watching documentaries, and reading vegan books definitely speeds up the process because you do NOT want to participate in the cruelty that is the animal product industry(ies). It’s awesome that you are already choosing cruelty free products for your everyday life!

Remind yourself why you want to be vegan and why you want to stay vegan. Your body will detox. It is inevitable. But once that path is crossed, it’s smooth sailing! Please do not hesitate to ask/vent/talk to me whenever! I wish you the best and I know you will be a proud vegan very soon!

*Love&Light*

books-friends-health asked: hey, I'm thinking about going vegan but all of my friends are really dissproving! saying things like it'll stop you growing! or oh it'll damage your body! I was just wondering how you get through people saying things like this? (it's mainly because i want to go vegan for the lifestyle more than my concern for animals) Also do you have any starter tips i've looked online but I trying to get view from people personal experience? Chloex

Namaste @ ! Thank you for ur message and reaching out to me ^_^

Most of my friends/family were disproving and negative as well when I first went vegetarian! And then thought I was insane and going to die from going vegan. 3 years (1 yr vegan) and I’m still here ^_^ People tend to fear something they do not know or do not understand. Unfortunately, some people also do not want to know or understand. “Ignorance is bliss”

You have to realize that you are doing this for yourself, not for them. I don’t quite comprehend you’re “going vegan for the lifestyle more than my concern for animals” because being vegan is a lifestyle that is definitely for the animals. If you mean more for health? I’m not sure. But. there are MANY great vegan blogs on tumblr and also instagram if you have that. Do your research. Watch documentaries. Reach out to more vegans. Once you have an understanding and feel confident u will be able to stand up for urself. Honestly, it doesn’t stop. But how you choose to handle the disproving comments/opinions is your decision. DO NOT LET THEM BOTHER YOU. DO NOT TAKE THEIR WORDS PERSONALLY.

I have some links on my blog under veganstarterkit & why vegan? I read Skinny Bitch & Main Street Vegan. They both have great recipes in there as well. Start by replacing the foods you already eat with vegan versions. Faux meat can be expensive. I do not really eat it anymore because once you get over that.. you don’t really have the taste for it anymore! Fruits/veggies/nuts/seeds/legumes/beans are all (healthy) vegan staples!

Please do not hesitate to message me anytime for advice/tips/or just to talk! I hope this helps and wish you the best of luck on your Vegan journey!
